Fastest Way to Drop Water Weight

Whether it be from excess salt, hormone fluctuations or medication, excess water weight is uncomfortable and can be unsightly in some cases. This bloating or puffiness can often lead to ill-fitting clothes and and overall feeling of discomfort. Losing this excess water weight, however, is easy. With a few adjustments to your daily routine, you can get rid of those few extra pounds so you can finally zip your pants comfortably.
  1. Distilled Water

    • While it might seem confusing to some sufferers of water-related bloat, drinking lots of distilled water will actually flush water out of your body.

When a person becomes even mildly dehydrated, the brain signals for the kidneys to slow urine production so that your body can hang on to the water that is already present in the body.

By keeping your body hydrated with pure distilled water, your body adjusts to get rid of the extra water that it's holding onto.

Distilled water is superior to other types of water because it is the purest water available and is not treated with minerals or sodium, which can exacerbate water retention in the body.

    A 500mg Sodium Fast

    • Under normal circumstances, a human should eat approximately 1,500 mg of sodium each day, but most people eat much more than that. Excess sodium can lead to water retention and bloating.

For two or three days, keep track of the sodium you consume and eat no more than 500mg of sodium per day. This sodium fast is only safe for a few days, as the body generally needs sodium to maximize the effects of other necessary minerals like potassium.

Within a few days of consuming only 500 mg of sodium, you will notice a considerable change in how you feel and will most likely note a several pound weight loss.

After the two or three days has passed, continue to monitor your sodium levels and return to allow yourself no more than 1,500 mg per day. This will reduce water-related bloat in the future.

    Diuretics

    • Several over-the-counter diuretics work efficiently to help your body get rid of extra water. Diurex, a common diuretic brand, features a gentle drug called parabrom that increases kidney function so that excess water can be excreted through urination. While taking drugs like Diurex, you will most likely have to use the bathroom more frequently.

Other medications for water weight loss contain caffeine, which is a natural diuretic. If you suffer from high blood pressure or are sensitive to caffeine, look for a diuretic that doesn't contain it.
