1
Make weights out of old plastic milk cartons. Find an empty gallon of milk with an ergonomic handle so that it fits comfortably in your hand. Now fill the carton with sand, water, cement or stones. Water is the lightest option so if you want a heavier weight use sand or cement.

Make a medicine ball out of an old volleyball or basketball. Use a knife to cut a slit in the ball and fill the ball with sand. Be sure to cut along a seam so that you can easily close up the opening. Once you have filled it to the level and weight you are comfortable with, sew the slit closed. A medicine ball is an extremely versatile and commonly used piece of workout equipment and you can alter the weight by filling it up with materials other than sand, such as stones or even a large ball of putty.

Build dumbbells. Acquire two 1.5-foot long metal bars. Wrap an old cloth or any kind of fabric around the center of the bar to create a gripping area. Attach water hose clippers to both ends of the fabric. Purchase dumbbell weights and slide them onto the bar all the way up to the water hose clippers. Now attach water hose clippers to the sides of the weights to hold them in place.
