You will need to first purchase a pair of wrist weights. When buying wrist weights you need to look for a set that is less than 3 pounds. Any wrist weights over 3 pounds can be harmful to your joints. You can purchase weights that can be fastened with velcro. There are also weights that are shaped like rings that you just slide over your wrist.

Once you purchase your weights you will need to put them on. When putting your wrist weights on make sure they fit snug but not to tight. You want them to stay on when walking however you do not want the weights to be too tight and hinder circulation.

Wear your wrist weights on a walk. Make sure you are using large arm movements as you walk. The weights will do no good if you are not moving your arms. Walk at a brisk pace and swing your arms back and forth quickly.

If at any time your wrists or shoulders begin to hurt a great deal stop using the weights. The weights should not cause joint pain.
