How to Powerwalk on a Treadmill

Warm-up your body by walking on the treadmill for five minutes. Turn on the treadmill and set it to two mph for one minute. Slow the speed down to one mph and walk on your toes for up to one minute. Switch to walking on your heels for up to one minute.

Set the speed at three to four mph and start walking. The pace should make you breathe hard but not gasp. Adjust the speed as necessary.

Raise the incline on the treadmill. Only do so once you can comfortably power walk on the treadmill for 30 to 45 minutes at a time without taking a break.

Cool down after powerwalking on a treadmill. Set the speed at approximately one to two mph. Walk at a moderate pace for five minutes before finishing the workout.
