How to Dress for a Water Aerobics Class

Water aerobics is a fun way to get exercise with the added bonus of not stressing your joints the way you would with floor aerobics. Being in the water while you work out also helps you to stay cool, and allows you to exercise in a variety of different ways. Instructions

Purchase a one-piece bathing suit with a reasonable amount of coverage. If you choose a suit that is too skimpy, it will likely not provide you with the freedom you need to do all the motions in your class. You do not want to be distracted from getting a good work out because of a shifting suit. Speedo is a good brand of bathing suit and can be found at a variety of different sporting good stores.

Buy a pair of water shoes. Water shoes will help protect the bottom of your feet from getting scraped on the bottom of the pool as you perform your various aerobic movements. These will also help you walk steadily on the slippery surface that often surrounds the pool and they can help protect your feet from bacteria on the surface as well. This type of shoe is available in a variety of different styles and price ranges. Buy whichever type you prefer, the most important aspect is that the shoe fits snuggly and comfortably on your foot so that it will not loosen or fall off during your aerobic activity.

Purchase some lightweight board shorts to wear over your bathing suit if you are looking for an added touch of modesty. Make sure they are extremely lightweight. Shorts with a good deal of mesh and pockets will weigh you down and make moving about the pool more difficult and less comfortable.
