How To Burn Fat Under Your Arms

Losing weight is a difficult process. Whether you try to diet, exercise or pursue a combination of the two, maintaining focus and sticking to activities that are new and uncomfortable takes a great deal of determination. Even if you are in relatively good shape, fat may remain concentrated in certain problem areas, like the belly, buttocks and under the arms. Stubborn underarm fat is especially common in women, and getting rid of it often takes a commitment above and beyond that which is needed to attain a healthy weight.

Get regular aerobic exercise. Getting rid of body fat in problem areas like the underarms requires you to burn up significantly more calories than you take in. Strive to exercise at least four times a week, for periods lasting at least half an hour. Prolonged cardiovascular exercise like jogging, swimming, biking and yoga is a great way to create a long-lasting calorie burn that will help decrease fat and raise your metabolism.

Increase the length and intensity of workouts as you improve. Getting regular exercise is great, but to get rid of stubborn arm fat, you cannot be content to merely maintain your current workout level. Constantly increase the duration and intensity of aerobic activities. Set goals to motivate yourself as you improve, such as training for a 5k race, learning to swim or even running a marathon.

Use portion control. Limiting your calorie intake so that workouts burn more energy than you consume is what will ultimately lead to burning underarm fat. As you work out more, you may notice an increase in appetite; allowing a little more calorie intake is OK, as long as your workouts are intense enough to compensate. Using workout machines at the gym that count how many calories you are burning can help you get an idea of how much exercise time is needed to work off different foods.

Do light lifting to increase muscular endurance and strength. While heavy lifting tends to build bulky muscles, which is often counterproductive to seeking attractive underarms, a routine of lighter lifting at high repetitions can help sculpt a fit body that will burn more calories. The more muscle mass you have, the more calories you will burn as the muscles are engaged.
