How to Get Kundalini Certified

Kundalini is a type of yoga that combines seated and standing poses with breath work and chanting. The ancient practice originated in India and remained a secret until a man named Yogi Bhajan began sharing the system with the rest of the world. Kundalini practitioners believe that the practice benefits the body's insides and outsides to strengthen muscles, boost your mood and balance the seven energy centers known as chakras. Kundalini practitioners also believe the exercise balances your glands and calms your nerves. Once a student earns Kundalini certification, he can teach the practice to others.

      Complete at least 20 Kundalini Yoga classes, either live or online. Find Kundalini classes in your area by contacting the 3HO Foundation, which maintains a database of certified Kundalini yoga teachers nationwide. Practitioners may also take the Kundalini Research Institute's online classes. Only practitioners who have completed the requisite number of classes may earn Kundalini certification.

      Sign up for the 27-day immersion program on the Kundalini Research Institute's website. The program involves 180 hours of learning inside a classroom, daily yoga practice, meditation and chanting. Students must also complete homework assignments.

      Complete the pre-course paperwork and mail it to the Kundalini Research Institute. Paperwork includes a health questionnaire and form to fill out that certifies you understand all the course requirements.

      Travel to Espanola, New Mexico to participate in the immersion program. Espanola is the home of the Hacienda de Guru Ram Das Ashram, the headquarters of the 3HO Foundation and the Kundalini Research Institute.

      Complete assignments after the immersion program concludes. Requirements involve 40 hours of homework, 40 straight days of yoga and attending an additional 20 Kundalini yoga classes.

      Mail certification paperwork to the Kundalini Research Institute after completing the post-course requirements. Your certification becomes official after the institute reviews your post-course certification paperwork.
