      Get into a fighting stance, only hold your punching arm down at solar plexus level in an L-shape with a loose hand. Relax your body, and this arm especially, as much as you can. (One way to practice relaxation is to flex every muscle in your body starting from your forehead on down to your ankle tendons, breathe in and hold it, hold it, hold it until you feel every muscle tense, then let it go.)

      Take your mental energy, put it out of your head and into your navel. That means you shouldn't be thinking about throwing this punch; you should be rooting your energy into the ground in preparation for the movement forward. Your body, however, should be relaxed.

      Your hand should be turned thumb up. At the point of impact, your wrist should flick up and you actually strike with the bottom two knuckles.

      Your foot, as with all punches, hits the ground a split second after the punch is completed. Your energy should be focused at a downward angle as you strike the target. You literally should think about forcing a bowel movement in your opponent.

      The power of the inch punch comes from a small movement forward of the entire body. Almost as if your punching arm were a rivet or a shooting gun. As you throw the punch to the solar plexus, your entire body should tense as hard as you can for the shortest amount of time possible. Then there should be a kickback, just as if you fired a rifle.

      Practice on a pad or a door; anything with a kickback that you can see. Remember flicky wrists, bowel movements, and guns. Tee hee. I made a funny.
