Instructions

    • 1

Begin in guarding stance. Keep your hands up to protect your face and chest and keep your feet about shoulder width apart. Almost all of your weight should be on your back foot. Your knees need to be bent and your eyes on target.

    • 2

Step up. Step to the right with your front (left) foot. This begins your spin.

    • 3

Spin. Bring your back leg (right) up in the knee-up position and spin to your right.

    • 4

Face target. Now you should be facing in the opposite direction you started in with your knee up and your guard up. Keep your hands up to protect your face and chest, as well as help you keep your balance.

    • 5

Kick your leg out and hit your target with your heel. Snap your leg back and return to the guarding stance.

    • 6

Spin. The power from a Tae Kwon Do reverse side kick comes from your spin, speed, hips, and back. Most Tae Kwon Do kicks get the power from your hips, back and speed. However, this kick has an advantage: momentum. The better your spin, the more powerful your Tae Kwon Do reverse spin kick will be.
