1
Access the fuel sending unit on the vessel. Locations may vary from boat to boat. However, many larger inboard motors that Teleflex fuel sending units are designed for have panels mounted on the side of the fuel storage tank.
-
2
Remove the sensor bolts with the adjustable wrench. Twist the old sensor and pull the unit from the side of the fuel tank. Use a rag to wipe up any fuel that may spill as you do this.
-
3
Disconnect the old fuel sending unit cable from the rear of the fuel gauge. On some gauges, the fuel sending cable may be soldered. If this is the case, melt the old solder connection with a soldering iron and then solder the new sending unit wire to the fuel gauge. If it is only held in place by a screw or bolt, remove with a screwdriver or wrench and install the line from the new fuel sending unit to the back of the gauge.
-
4
Set the new fuel sending unit in place on the side of the tank and replace the retaining bolts with the wrench.
