1
Adjust the carburetor's idle speed and the engine's timing following the initial 10 hours of operation and every 100 hours thereafter. Adjust the remote throttle cable after the first 10 hours and then during off-season storage.
-
2
Clean the motor's case after every boating excursion. At the end of the season, clean and paint the motor case. Flush the cooling system after 10 hours of operation and every 100 hours of operation. Spray a solvent into the cylinder bores to remove the carbon in the cylinders after every 100 hours of operation.
-
3
Lubricate the electric starter motor pinion gear, the engine cover latches and the engine mount clamp screws as needed, using the lubricant recommended in the motor operator's guide once every 100 hours or once a boating season. Lubricate the ends of the cables, the choke, the throttle and shift handles with waterproof marine grease before the beginning of every boating season and every 100 hours thereafter. Lubricate the swivel bracket and tilt assembly with heavy marine grease before the beginning of every season and as necessary thereafter.
-
4
Replace the compressor air filter after 100 hours of operation and at the end of the boating season. Change the gear oil and the crankcase oil after the initial 10 hours of operation and every 100 hours thereafter. Replace the water pump impeller every 100 hours -- the maintenance schedule may say, "Inspect the impeller," but since you have to remove it to inspect it, you may as well change it. Change the compressor and alternator drive belt after 300 hours of operation, or every three boating seasons.
-
5
Tighten all the reachable nuts and bolts every time you get into the boat. After the initial 10 hours and every 100 hours thereafter, inspect and tighten the bolts you can't reach conveniently. After every 100 hours, tighten the propeller nut. Inspect the propeller nut at that time and remove any fishing line wrapped around the propeller shaft.
