How to Read BSB Charts

BSB is a file format used for large graphic images such as nautical charts. This format stores an exact scan of a hardcopy chart called a raster map in a single layer of pixels containing both illustrations and text. To read a BSB chart, you must download software that specifies BSB, KAP and CAP file extensions. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA) website contains both free BSB charts and links to suitable software providers.
