1
Visit a sporting goods or camping equipment store to purchase a seam sealant. Ask the staff about differences between brands, and ask if there is one that is best for your tent. Find out if the sealant you choose should be applied to the waterproofed or non-waterproofed side of the fabric. Purchase any applicator equipment if your selected brand doesn't provide one.

2
Clean your tent's floor seams, if necessary. Brush them lightly to remove any dirt and old sealant, and swab them with isopropyl alcohol. Let the alcohol dry completely.
-
3
Apply the sealant according to the product's directions. Pay close attention to drying times between coats. For the best results, you should apply two lighter coats rather than one heavy one.
-
4
Seal all the seams on the tent floor and up the wall several inches. Even if your tent features a bathtub floor that continues up the side walls of the tent for several inches, you may want to treat those seams. Pay particular attention to places where stake loops are attached. Turn the tent inside out if necessary to reach all the way into the corners.
-
5
Allow the sealant to dry thoroughly. Set up the tent next to a sprinkler or two to test the waterproofing.
