How to Reseal a Tent

Tent camping is a wonderful experience that teaches certain skills, like the ability to set up your own domicile, to young and old alike. Although camping is considered "roughing it," there are certain technological advantages that make the experience more comfortable. Among these are sealants that you can use to reinforce the seams of your tent to prevent water from invading it.

  • Seam sealant
  • Water proofing spray

      Set up your tent and apply a seam sealant along all the seams, both on the tent and on the rain fly. Simply squeeze the sealant from the tube as you slowly move along the seams. The applicator brush will distribute the sealant evenly.

      Spray a silicone-based water-proofer over the rain fly and the outside of your tent.

      Let the tent and rain fly stand for at least two hours before you put them away or use them.
