Temporary Tent Structures

Temporary tent structures are designed for everything from lightweight backpacking trips to large gatherings and family camping. The temporary structures are constructed with pole frames and covered with canvas, nylon or netting material. The structures serve a specialized purpose and provide portability and a low impact on the tent area.
  1. Backpacking Tents

    • Backpacking tents are designed to create a comfortable structure with as little weight as possible. The tents are constructed for one or multiple people with lightweight graphite poles that flex when assembled. The flexed poles create the structure, and stakes anchor the floor. Some models also come with ropes for additional tie-down support. Backpacking tents are often durable but use is limited to short-term backcountry trips. Most models are designed for three-season use but some are built for four seasons and mountaineering style expeditions.

    Camping Tents

    • Camping tents are similar to backpacking tents but the overall weight is less important. Camping tents use graphite or metal poles to build multiple room structures with screen doors and awnings. The cover material and overall design is similar to a backpacking tent to create a portable unit but extra features like room dividers and gear pouches are added. Camping tents are typically built for two or more people and three-season use.

    Wall Tents

    • Wall tents and outfitter style tents use a more rigid design for comfortable camping in difficult conditions. The tents are framed with metal or timber poles and have a peaked roof that closely resembles a house. Many of the tents also have a stove jack that allows wood burning for cooking and heat inside of the tent. Wall tents are commonly used for hunting camps and long-term camping in rugged environments.

    Circus Tents and Gazebos

    • Circus tents and gazebos are metal framed and most use one or more center poles to support a peaked roof. The tents are heavy and require heavy duty stakes and anchor points to secure the structure. The tents are common for large outdoor events and social gatherings like graduation parties. The large temporary tent structures are labor intensive to erect and require a full-size truck or trailer to transport.

    Screen House Tents

    • Screen house tents are graphite pole or metal pole framed and designed for light summer applications. The tents create a bug-free zone while camping and in the backyard. The tent structures have a solid cloth roof to shed water but the walls are mesh screened and designed to encourage air flow while providing a light level of shade.
