How to Set Up a Pop-Up Tent
Pop-up tents are also known as self-erecting tents. Most of these tents have pre-threaded poles in the sleeves and can be set up in under a minute. Self-erecting pop-up tents are "free standing" tents that require staking down in high winds. Pop-up tents can be used for everything from children's play forts to hardy temporary shelters in demanding environments -- for instance, during Rally Dakar, the annual Paris-Dakar off-road racing event.

1
Pull the tent out of the storage sack and grab one of the poles in the tent sleeves. Pull the pole up so the tent begins to form.
-
2
Pull until the shape of the tent is seen. Pick up the tent and shake until the remainder of the poles open and the tent fabric gets tight.
-
3
Set the pop-up tent down on the patch of ground you wish to use. Place the tent stakes into the loops at the end of the sleeve lines. Pound them into the ground to keep the tent secured against high winds.
