1
Cut green sticks that are about 3 feet long and as thick as your thumb at the thicker end. This thicker end will be the end that holds the dough. Peel the bark from the stick on the thicker end about 8 inches down from the end.
-
2
Open a can of biscuits and separate the pieces of dough. Roll a piece of dough between your palms to make a long strand, much like a child makes a snake out of clay.
-
3
Push one end of the dough strand over the top of the stick on the cooking end. Wind the rest of the strand around the stick end, covering the stick completely from the end until the point where you run out of dough. You should not see any stick peeking in between the dough strands.

4
Cook the dough over the campfire coals, turning the stick every minute or to brown the bread evenly on all sides. Cook the bread until it is completely brown all the way around. Allow the bread to cool slightly.
-
5
Hold the dough in one hand and give the stick a twist with the other. Use a napkin or paper towel to hold the bread if it is too hot to handle. Pull the bread off the stick. Pop bits of butter, spoonfuls of jelly or savory gravy in the hole in the middle of the bread where the stick used to be. Eat the filled stick breads while they are still warm.
