How to Erect an Awning on a Pennine Aztec Trailer Tent

Pennine is a United Kingdom-based manufacturer of caravans and tent trailers. The Aztec model is a tent trailer with synthetic fabric walls. The trailer comes with an awning that requires poles for the assembly. The awning is removable and is not required for using the trailer, but it provides a shaded outdoor cover when desired. The awning is not difficult to assemble when the poles are properly placed. Placing the poles in the wrong sequence will make the awning difficult to lift and assemble.

Instructions

    • 1

Park the trailer at the campsite and complete the initial assembly process by folding out the bed platforms and attaching the fabric to the frame.

    • 2

Build the awning frame with the included poles. Build the entire frame before attaching any fabric.

    • 3

Place the 4-way connector on the end of a long pole. Attach one short pole to each remaining opening on the 4-way connector. Place a 3-way connector on the end of each short pole. Attach a long pole to the downward facing opening on the 3-way connectors. Place a short pole in each of the remaining openings on the 3-way connectors.

    • 4

Set the base of three long poles on the ground and push three short pole ends into the connectors attached to the trailer frame. The awning frame is now assembled and attached to the trailer.

    • 5

Cover the awning frame with the awning fabric. Align the three fabric legs with the three long frame poles. Place the end of each pole in the corresponding fabric pocket.

    • 6

Align the top edge of the fabric cover with the top edge of the tent trailer. Zip the two fabric sections together. Pull the fabric siding that is attached to the trailer along each side of the awning and zip the siding to the fabric legs. Zip each front door panel to the fabric legs to complete the awning setup.
