1
Decide what type of canoe trip you want to take. Are you looking for a leisurely river vacation or the thrill of white-water rapids?
-
2
Choose your group. Plan on having two to three people per canoe and a minimum of 3 canoes in the party.
-
3
Consider the skill level of the members in your group. You probably want at least one person with some canoe experience in each canoe.
-
4
Find a body of water you wish to explore. Make sure it is suitable for canoeing, and is appropriate for the skill levels of the members in your group.
-
5
Choose a canoe trip outfitter to arrange a tour or provide an independent guide of the area.
-
6
Make a list of the supplies you'll need. Some items to consider include dishes, cookware, first aid kits, clothing, life vests, sleeping gear, food, maps, tents and backpacks. Your outfitter may also provide you with a list.
-
7
Prepare your canoe for the trip or arrange to rent canoes from your canoe outfitter.
