How to Use a Striper Rig
Instructions
-
-
1
Place menhaden, eel, worms, clams or other bait on the circle hook attached to the end of the heavy monofilament leader. Secure the bait in place so that strong currents along the bottom and in channels will not dislodge it.
-
2
Attach a weight to the swivel snap on the three-way rig. Choose a weight that is one ounce or more based on conditions and preference.
-
3
Cast the three-way rig into the water. Concentrate your fishing on channels, natural washed out areas and in depressions along the surf line. Cast the rig out so that the bait will be presented to the most fish.
-
4
Allow the baited three-way rig to sink to the bottom. Tighten the line by reeling it in and allow the rig to sit motionless on the bottom.
-
5
Remain alert to movement from the rig. Raise the rod tip slightly if a strike is suspected and reel in the line to set the hook. Maintain a tight line so the striper will not throw the hook as it is played and landed.
