Albacore Tuna Fishing Information on the Oregon Coast

The waters along the Oregon coast are teeming with tuna and anglers who are eager to catch them. An albacore tune landing license can be obtained from the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.

    • The A & B Pro Guides and Charters of Oregon and Washington states "there is no limit for tuna, but a fishing license is required." Oregon's Department of Fish and Wildlife issues annual angling licenses to adults for $21.50, to senior citizens for $12.00 and to children under the age of 18 for $6.75.

    Time Frame

    • Tuna fish are a migratory species that follow warm currents throughout the year. According to the Secret Island Fishing Company, the tuna "normally come within sport fishing range by mid-June and can be here well into October."

    Cost

    • Many of the Oregon-based guided fishing charters offer a variety of tuna fishing packages that range in price and length of time spent at sea. Twelve hour fishing trips range from about $200 to $250 per person. Eighteen hour tuna fishing trips cost any where from $320 to $350 per person and 33 hour packages are also available for up to $425 per person, according to the Oregon Coast Charter Fishing Guide Service.
