How to Make a Bobber Out of a Wine Cork
Finding new ways to reuse and recycle is an entertaining way to save money and have some arts and crafts fun. Cork is a versatile material with many uses, so that little wine stopper can be repurposed in a number of ways -- including as a fishing bobber. With just a few tools and a bit of time, a wine cork can become a bobber that's just as useful as a store-bought one.
Things You'll Need
- Drill
- 3/8-inch drill bit
- 4-inch length of 3/8-inch wood dowel
- Small saw
- Fishing line
- Hammer
Instructions
-
-
1
Drill a hole through the wine cork, vertically.
-
2
Slide the length of wooden dowel through the hole, leaving about 1 inch on either side. It may require some pushing or gentle taps from the hammer, to ensure a snug fit. Saw off any excess length, and discard it.
-
3
Use the saw to carefully carve a notch in one end of the dowel. This notch provides a place to tie the fishing line to the bobber.
-
4
Tie the bobber to the fishing line, securing it at the notch.
