List of Ponds in Lempster, New Hampshire

The town of Lempster is a small town of about 1,000 people located in central New Hampshire. In addition to being a favorite stop for outdoor enthusiasts, Lempster has also made a name for itself by being an environmental pioneer. It is the first town in New Hampshire to construct a wind farm. The giant windmills overlook one of the many bodies of water in the area that backpackers, campers and fisherman flock to on a regular basis.
  1. Dodge Pond

    • Dodge Pond is located in the southeastern part of the town of Lempster. It is spread across 20 acres of land and has an average depth of 10 feet. The pond, which is managed by the New Hampshire Fish & Game Division, allows canoeing, fishing and swimming. There is no public access boat access to the pond, but there is a launch available for town residents.

    Sand Pond

    • Sand Pond is located in the southernmost area of Lempster. It is home to a watershed dam that is shared by the surrounding towns that use the body of water. The pond is approximately 155 acres with an average depth of 25 feet. It is a favorite spot for trout fishing. The pond does not allow personal motorized watercraft, but does have a ramp for nonmotorized vessels to launch.

    Long Pond

    • Located right next to Sand Pond, Long Pond is also located in the southern corner of Lempster. The pond spreads across 120 acres with an average depth of 20 feet. Trout fisherman also frequent this area. There is a town beach and gravel launch available to residents, and water-skiing is allowed in the afternoon, usually from 1 to 3 p.m.

    Pond at Lempster Town Forest

    • The more adventurous outdoorsman who is looking for a secluded body of water need look no further than the town of Lempster. One of the town's local designated forest areas features a mid-size pond without an official name. It is located east of Hurd Rd. right in between the two protected wilderness areas.
