New Hampshire, a state in the northeastern region of the United States, offers a plethora of skiing options during the winter months. The skiing resorts in New Hampshire are located throughout the White Mountains, in the northern area of the state, as well as the Appalachian Mountains, in the southern end. The New Hampshire ski season typically runs from November through April, depending on the amount of snowfall.

    • Cranmore Mountain, in northern New Hampshire's White Mountains, offers skiers and snowboarders 43 slopes to chose from. Beginner slopes make up 36 percent and black and double-black runs make up 20 percent of the slopes in the park. The resort also provides seven lifts for transportation up the mountain. The ski season at Cranmore usually runs from December through March. As of 2010, the hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Snow tubing facilities are also available at the resort. The resort has a terrain park for those skiers and snowboarders interested in half-pipe activities. Skiing and snowboarding equipment rentals are available, and the resort's staff also provides skiing and snowboarding lessons.

    Granite Gorge Ski Area

    • Located in southern New Hampshire's Appalachian Mountains, the Granite Gorge Ski Area is open for skiing from December through March. The ski area features 15 trails for skiing and snowboarding, and it offers four lifts that can be used for transportation up the mountain. Out of the 15 trails at Granite Gorge, seven of them are green level for beginners, while six of them are black or double-black slopes for advanced skiers. Cross-country and snow tubing trails are available as well. The hours of operation at Granite Gorge during the ski season, as of 2010, are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Granite Gorge features a "Snowsport School" that offers skiing and snowboarding lessons for beginners. Rentals for skis, snowboards and helmets are also available.

    Waterville Valley Resort

    • Waterville Valley Resort, in the White Mountains of northern New Hampshire, is less than a mile from the town center of Waterville Valley. This ski resort provides 52 slopes for skiing and snowboarding and 12 lifts for transportation up the mountain. The resort has 10 slopes available for beginners and 10 slopes for advanced skiers. As of 2010, the hours of operation during the ski season are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The ski season normally runs from November through April. Trails for cross-country skiing are also available at this resort. Skiing and snowboarding lessons are available for children and adults, and Waterville Valley Resort also provides rentals for snowboarding and skiing equipment, including helmets and snowblades.

    Mount Washington Resort

    • The Mount Washington Resort in Bretton Woods is a 434-acre ski area in northern New Hampshire that has been featured in Ski Magazine. Skiers and snowboarders can take advantage of the 101 slopes as well as four terrain parks with half-pipe activities. The resort provides 10 lifts for transportation up the mountain. Cross-country and snow shoeing trails are also available. The ski season usually runs from December through April. The hours of operation during ski season, as of 2010, are 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Skiing and snowboarding rentals are available at the resort. The resort's "Red Carpet Ski and Snowboard School" provides lessons for adult and youth skiers and snowboarders.

    Crotched Mountain Ski and Ride

    • Crotched Mountain is about a 10-minute drive from the town center of the southern New Hampshire city of Bennington. This Appalachian Mountain ski area provides 23 slopes for skiing and snowboarding. The resort offers seven trails for beginners and six trails for advanced skiers. As of 2010, the hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Night skiing is allowed on those nights the ski resort closes at 9 p.m. The ski resort is typically open November through March. Ski equipment such as boots, skis and poles are as well as snowboards and helmets are available for rent. Lessons are offered for beginners, and the resort holds clinics for more advanced skiers and snowboarders.
