Pennsylvania is in the northeastern region of the United States and features opportunities for skiing and snowboarding. Some of the mountain ranges in the state that facilitate winter activities include the Poconos, Moosic Mountains and the Appalachian Mountains. The ski season for most of Pennsylvania's resorts lasts from December through March, depending on the amount of snowfall. Restaurants and hotel or cabin accommodations can be found on these resorts' properties or within close proximity.

  1. Bear Creek Mountain

    • Bear Creek Mountain is a 330-acre resort in the eastern Pennsylvania town of Macungie, an approximate 30-minute drive from Allentown. This resort features 21 trails for alpine skiing and snowboarding, as well as seven lifts. Ski lessons and equipment rentals are available. The hours of operation during the ski season is 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. The late hours allows for night skiing activities. The ski season typically lasts from December to March. The resort also features guest rooms at the on-site Inn at Bear Creek.

    Liberty Mountain

    • Liberty Mountain is a year-round resort in southern Pennsylvania, an approximate 30-minute drive from Gettysburg National Military Park. A total of 16 skiing and snowboarding slopes are available at this resort, as well eight lifts. The resort also allows snow tubing and night skiing activities. During the season, which usually runs from December throughout March, hours of operation are 9:00 a.m. to 10 p.m. during the weekdays. On the weekends, the resort opens at 8:00 a.m. Lodging can be found at the Liberty Mountain Hotel, which is on the resort's grounds.

    Elk Mountain

    • Elk Mountain is nestled in the Poconos mountain range in the northeastern corner of Pennsylvania. The resort offers 27 skiing and snowboarding slopes, as well as six lifts. The ski season runs from December through March and the hours of operation during that time are 8:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Night skiing is allowed. The resort also provides rentals and lessons for skiers and snowboarders of all ages. All-day children's programs are provided as well. No lodging is on the resort's property, but accommodations can be found in the nearby towns of Union Dale and Johnstown.

    Seven Springs Mountain

    • Seven Springs Mountain is in the southeastern region of Pennsylvania, nestled in the heart of Forbes State Forest. The resort provides 32 ski and snowboard trails, as well as 10 lifts.
