Instructions

1
Cut a 15-foot length of 550 cord from a filler spool. Seal the end of the cord with the flame of a lighter to prevent unraveling.
-
2
Hold the cord 20 inches from one end. Position the cord, at the point where you are holding it, against the walking stick where the top of the grip will be created.
-
3
Pull the short free end of the cord down and form a loop. Pull the free end of the loop up and above the point where you are holding the line in place. Straighten the formed loop so it lies flat against the walking stick.
-
4
Continue to hold the cord in place and wrap the long end of the cord around the stick. Make the wraps tight and close together as you work down the stick. Release the cord where you have been holding it in place.
-
5
Wrap the cord down to the bottom of the loop. Insert the end of the long cord length through the loop. Trim the free end of the cord extending through the loop to between one and two inches in length, using scissors.
-
6
Locate the short piece of cord, that was used to form the loop, extending up beyond the first loop. Pull the short piece of cord at the top to pull the loop at the bottom of the wraps and the free end of the long length of cord up and under the wraps.
-
7
Finish the wrap by trimming the short length of cord extending from the top of the wraps with scissors. Then seal the end with the flame from a lighter.
