1
Determine what adjustments need to be made to the optics. In order to know whether your rifle is accurate a test shooting is required. Practice shooting at a target will identify where the bullets from the rifle are hitting and what adjustments need to be made to your scope optics. This can be done in an indoor range or outdoor range preferably at a range of 100 yards. After setting up a target and taking several test shots with an artificial rest determine where the bullet grouping of the gun is. If the bullet holes on the target are high and right of the bull's-eye the optics on your Redfield riflescope need to be adjusted down and to the left.

Remove the adjustment dial covers. The two dials responsible for the up and down and left to right adjustment of the scope optics are located in the center of the scope body. One is on top of the scope; the other is on the right-hand side. Both have a proactive cover that can easily be unscrewed. The covers must be removed before you can make any adjustment to the optics.

3
Adjust the elevation dial accordingly. The elevation dial controls the up and down flight path of the bullet. If the bullet grouping in your practice shooting from 100 yards is hitting 1 inch above the bull's-eye you will need to adjust the elevation optic down four clicks. Redfield scopes use an "Accu-Trac" 1/4-MOA Finger click adjustment system. This means that each slight turn of the dial in either direction will result in a 1/4-inch adjustment up or down in the trajectory of the bullet. Each slight turn of the dial produces an audible "click" and is referred to as such.

4
Adjust the directional dial accordingly. The other dial located on the scope is used for the left to right direction of the bullet. If the If the bullet grouping in your practice shooting from 100 yards is hitting 2 inches to the right of the bull's-eye, you will need to adjust the directional optic eight clicks to the left.

5
Confirm that the adjustments had the intended effect. It is important to shoot several more rounds at a target from the same yardage to confirm that the rifle is shooting accurately. If your scope is not accurate after adjusting the optics you may need to have it inspected by the manufacturer.
