How to Make a Rabbit Screamer Coyote Call

Few things will bring coyotes, bobcats and other predators running like the screams of a dying rabbit. For serious predator hunters, nature photographers, biologists or anyone who wants to see wild animals up close, a predator call is a great place to start. A homemade electronic predator call requires a little work, but the results can be impressive.

Instructions

  1. Building the Call

    • 1

Using the USB cable, connect the Mp3 player to the computer. Connect to the Internet and direct your web browser to one of these addresses:

      http://www.mscustomcalls.com

      http://www.rmvh.com/predatorcallingsounds.htm

Download the rabbit in distress Mp3s to your Mp3 player.

    • 2

Use cable strippers to remove the mono male plug at the end of one of the 6-foot pieces of cable. Strip back the cable skin to reveal the wires inside. Also strip the end of the cable coming from the speaker or powerhorn, exposing the wires.

    • 3

Use the soldering iron to solder the cable from the speaker or powerhorn to the 6-foot cable. Plug the male end of the 6-foot cable into the output or "speaker out" plug on the amplifier.

    • 4

Plug one male end of the second 6-foot cable into the stereo jack in-line adapter and connect that to the input or "line-in" jack on the amplifier. Plug the remaining male end of that cable into the Mp3 player.

Turn on the Mp3 player, select the "jackrabbit screams" Mp3 and play it.
