How to Attach a Suppressor Without Threading the Barrel

A rifle flash hider or suppressor can be installed to minimize noise, hide the muzzle flash or both. These devices are often mounted on assault rifles or long-range weapons for use in a tactical environment. Most of these devices are installed on a threaded barrel, but some are made to be secured to the muzzle in other ways. You must purchase a non-threaded suppressor to install the device to a non-threaded barrel.

  • Padded gun vise
  • White wax marker
  • Metal bonding solution
  • Non-threaded suppressor

      Unload the weapon completely. Visually inspect the weapon to ensure that no live ammunition is present.

      Secure the weapon into a padded gun vise. Ensure that the muzzle is accessible for you to work.

      Slide the suppressor onto the muzzle. Mark on the muzzle where the suppressor stops using a white wax marker.

      Apply metal bonding solution to the muzzle exterior up to your mark. Slide on the suppressor and twist until it tightens. Allow 24 hours for the bonding solution to cure completely and before test firing the weapon.
