How to Attach the Security Leash to a Pedometer

Pedometers are a great way to monitor the number of steps you take each day, or how far you've walked. They're also a proven motivational tool for getting and staying fit. But these small, lightweight devices won't do you much good -- if they're continually slipping off and crashing to the ground -- losing all of their stored information in the process. To guard against damage and loss, you can easily attach a security leash to your pedometer.

Instructions

A security leash may save your pedometer from crashing to the ground.

Look for a hole, hook or other attachment point on the body of your pedometer. If you don't see one, it could be on the pedometer holder or casing. Check your instruction manual for specific instructions. If you've lost the manual, you may be able to find one online.

Make a loop with the strap, and pull the longer part through.

Insert the security strap through the attachment point. One end of the safety strap is probably smaller than the other. Insert this end through the hole or hook. Loop it around -- then pull it through the loop created by the rest of the leash. This will securely fasten the strap to your pedometer.

Now that your pedometer is secure, you can enjoy your run in peace.

Clip the leash firmly to your clothing. Once the leash is attached to your pedometer, all that's left to do is attach the other end to yourself. Most leashes come with a clip that will grip onto your waistband, T-shirt, or other secure place.
