How to Attach a Barrel to a Receiver

Routine cleaning is part of the maintenance required when owning a firearm. The cleaning process is aided by the design of some weapons which allows the barrel to be removed completely from the receiver. Various models of weapons including some pump shotguns in particular have this feature. Following a thorough cleaning, it is necessary to attach the barrel back to the receiver to complete the cleaning process.

      Hold the stock of the weapon securely with your hand. Pull the forearm back half way to the receiver.

      Position the large end of the barrel in front of the receiver.

      Slide the barrel back toward the receiver. Line up the magazine tube ring on the bottom of the barrel with the magazine tube.

      Slide the end of the barrel into the receiver and the magazine tube ring down onto the magazine tube.

      Secure the barrel in place to the receiver with the magazine cap. Thread the cap onto the end of the magazine tube by turning clockwise.
