1
Have the proper license. You must have a valid Florida saltwater fishing license with a current lobster endorsement stamp to gather lobsters. The cost as of this publication for a saltwater license is $17 for residents and $47 for non-residents. The lobster stamp is an additional $5 regardless of residency.

2
Head to the beach. In previous lobster seasons many legal-sized lobsters have been found within 50 yards off the beaches of Miami. You can also sign up for a charter that will take you out into the waters to go diving or snorkeling in the reefs where you can gather lobsters.
-
3
Look for the lobsters. During the day the lobsters may be hiding or sleeping in holes, among coral bases, beneath grass or hiding beneath underwater cliffs.
-
4
Guide the lobsters to where you want them to go using your tickle stick. You can get the lobster to move toward your net or closer to a snare where you can grab the lobster and pull it out of its hiding spot.
-
5
Use a snare loop to grab the lobster by the tail if the lobster will not come out of its hiding spot. Place the loop behind the lobster and use the tickle stick to guide it backward. When the lobster gets close enough grab the tail and close the loop with the snare.
-
6
Place the lobster in your game bag. If using a net, drop the lobster from the net into the bag or grab it by its carapace to transfer it. To protect your hands, wear thick gloves when picking up and handling lobsters.
