The Best Way to Dock a Sea-Doo

Owning a Sea-Doo jet ski makes it hard to keep a smile off your face. The maneuverable watercraft can quickly turn and accelerate on the water. While there are several methods for docking your Sea-Doo, none of them should involve leaving the watercraft in water. Always dock your Sea-Doo on land and keep it in a covered garage. This will protect it from the elements and give your watercraft a longer lifespan. Every Sea-Doo model has a matching trailer that you can hitch to the back of your car or truck.

Instructions

    • 1

Check the back of the Sea-Doo trailer to make sure it is correctly attached to your vehicle. Loosen or unhook any straps used to tie the Sea-Doo down.

    • 2

Back the Sea-Doo trailer into the boat slip. Align the trailer with the water so it goes straight in; you do not want to angle the trailer in the water. If your car or truck is misaligned with the trailer, drive forward to straighten the two vehicles out before reversing again. Back the trailer straight into the water until the Sea-Doo can drive into the trailer without scraping the bottom of the boat slip.

    • 3

Bring the Sea-Doo out 20 yards deep into the water so you can align it straight with the trailer.

    • 4

Ride slowly towards the trailer keeping a speed that is between 5 to 10 miles per hour. Be sure you are not coming into the trailer from the side; if you get off course, circle around and bring the Sea-Doo in again. The watercraft must be straight when ramping onto the trailer.

    • 5

Accelerate right before the Sea-Doo reaches the trailer, keeping the steering handles straight as you ramp up onto the trailer. Do not over-accelerate; give just enough of a kick so that the momentum of the Sea-Doo smoothly glides it into the trailer.

Turn the engine off and exit the Sea-Doo. Attach the straps from your trailer to your Sea-Doo according to the trailer manual. Once secure, place the cover on the Sea-Doo and store it in a garage or covered area.
