Instructions

    • 1

Select a location in the kayak to install the surface-mount rod holder. Choose a location with a flat surface, and enough room underneath to accommodate the tube of the flush mount.

    • 2

Stand the tube end of the flush mount on the mounting surface of the kayak. Position the flush mount, and trace an outline of the tube on the kayak surface.

    • 3

Insert a 1 1/4-inch diameter hole saw in the chuck of a cordless drill. Position the teeth of the hole saw on the outline made on the kayak surface; cut out the hole.

    • 4

Push the tube end of the surface-mount rod holder into the hole in the kayak. Apply downward pressure to push the mount in place.

    • 5

Insert a small-diameter drill bit into the chuck of the drill. Position the drill bit in each of the four mounting holes of the surface mount. Drill a hole through kayak surface.

    • 6

Place a pop rivet on the end of a pop-rivet tool. Insert the rivet into the mounting hole of the surface-mount and the kayak surface. Squeeze the handle on the rivet tool to secure the rivet in place. Repeat the process to secure all four mounting points on the surface mount.
