How to Install a Seals Kayak Cover

Seals Skirts produces products for whitewater, touring and sea kayaks. Among these products are the company's cockpit covers. These devices are similar to kayak sprayskirts except that there is no hole for the kayaker. A cockpit cover is used when the boat is in storage or beached, and it prevents water or animals from getting into the boat. Seals cockpit covers are very simplistic in design yet are highly effective.

      Spread the cover over the cockpit combing, which is the ridge surrounding the cockpit. Keep the flat colored side up and the plastic sheen side down into the cockpit.

      Push the bungee cord sewn into the outer edge of the cockpit cover around the back side combing on the cockpit.

      Grip the nylon loop at the front of the cockpit cover and pull it forward, then over the front lip of the combing on the cockpit.

      Pull the bungee cord over the combing edge around all the sides, making a watertight seal back-to-front and all points in between. Make sure that you don't tuck the front nylon loop into the cockpit cover as you pull the cord forward.
