How to Walk on Water With Canoe-Like Shoes

If history and literature are any guide, humans have long had a preoccupation with walking on water. The theme has arisen in major religions from Christianity to Buddhism, as Mike Hanlon, a writer for "Giz Mag" points out. In various cultural mythology, certain gods, such as the Greek Orion, have been able to walk on water. Up until now humans have never been able to do it, though we've come close with various water vessels that allow you to stand on them, such as rafts. However, certain canoe-like shoes allow you to glide across the surface of the water, taking steps, just as if you were walking.

Put on a pair of waterproof sneakers or other sturdy shoes. Walk to the edge of a body of water and stick each foot into a canoe-like shoe. Tighten the straps around the calves if you so choose for extra security or to prevent water from splashing into the shoes. You can keep them loose if you so choose.

Shuffle to the edge of the body of water. Continue to shuffle outwards, onto the surface of the water, until there is no more land under your feet.

    • 3

Move forward, pushing each leg forward as if you were walking on dry land. Don't let your legs spread too far apart as you could loose your balance and fall. Keep moving with your balance distributed forward slightly and your head over your chest and your feet shoulder width apart. The resistance of the water will make you feel like you're walking in sand or something comparable.
