How to Install a Moultrie Activator

Moultrie's feeder activators allow you to operate a feeder motor from up to 300 feet away. This extra range, coupled with Moultrie's quiet feeders produce enhanced results. The activator system consists of a receiver that mounts to the feeder and a handheld remote-control transmitter. When you extend the antenna and press the remote control button, the feeder motor is activated for five seconds and feed is dispensed. Installing a Moultrie activator consists of wiring the receiver, checking connections and mounting the two parts.

Disconnect the feeder's battery by holding one of the included connectors and pushing on the red motor wire until it reaches the internal stop in the rear hole. Slide the positive wire that runs between the feeder's circuit board and the motor into the side of the connector. Positive is usually red. Compress the tab down with pliers to make a contact. Close the plastic cover and repeat for the black, negative side.

Connect the battery to the feeder again. Then connect the battery to the receiver. The red status light will illuminate on the receiver. You can then test the activator by pressing the button and confirming that the motor runs for five seconds.

Mount the receiver by removing the adhesive tape and attaching it to a clean, dry location. Route the white antenna wire inside the plastic feeder enclosure so that it doesn't get chewed on. Route the antenna away from metal parts that can cause interference.
