How to Tie My Racquet Handle Slip String

Racquetball is a recreational activity, junior Olympic sport and intercollegiate athletic option. Young people and adults across the United States enjoy playing racquetball to get in shape and to have active, friendly competition with co-workers and friends. There isn't much you need to get started playing racquetball other than a racquet, ball and if desired, pair of protective eye goggles. Many racquetball players choose to add slip strings to the ends of the handles of their racquets. A slip string is easy to tie and helps keep your racquet from flying across the court if it slips out of your hand on a forward or backhand move.

Instructions

    • 1

Flip your racquetball racquet upside down so that you are looking at the flat, bottom end of the racquet handle.

    • 2

Find the small dip in the center of the bottom of the racquet handle and the eyelet protruding slightly from it. Slip one end of a piece of nylon string that is 1/4-inch diameter and about eight inches long through the eyelet in the center of the handle.

    • 3

Tie a double knot immediately against the eyelet by wrapping the string around itself twice. Tug firmly on the string, ensuring a tight knot that will not come undone during play.

    • 4

Grasp the loose end of the string in your hand and form a loop with it in the middle of the string. Reach through the loop and grasp the loose right end of the string. Pull that end of the string through the loop you just made. Observe that you have just formed a slip knot in the string attached to your racquetball racquet handle.

    • 5

Slide the loop over your wrist. Pull on the loose end of the string below the loop to tighten the loop around your wrist until it is snug.
