How to Do the Twist Line Dance

Line dancing has become very popular with many individuals of varying ability levels. The Twist line dance has many variations. There are some Twist line dances that are appropriate for the beginning line dancer and some that are well suited to the more advanced line dancer. This Twist line dance is the Cowboy Twist, a very easy, beginning line dance. It is a two wall beginner line dance consisting of 28 counts. During a two wall dance, the dancer turns from facing the front wall in the room to face either the side wall or the back wall, while completing dance steps.

Instructions

      Put on your boots and swivel those heels.

      Perform heel swivels, by swiveling heels to the right, left, right, left, right, left, right and then to the center (eight counts).

      Touch the right heel forward (two counts) and touch right heel back (two counts).

      Put a little sass in your dance with a tip of your hat.

      Perform a vine to the right, ending with a left knee hitch (four counts). A vine is a line dance step in which the dancer steps with the right foot to the right, crosses behind the right with the left foot, transfers weight, steps again to the right with the right foot and then places the left foot beside the right. A knee hitch is performed by lifting the knee on the left leg before setting the left foot beside the right.

      Rock forward on the left foot and back on the right foot for two counts. Rock forward on the left foot again (one count) and then hitch right knee and pivot one-half turn to the left (one count).

      Put your thumbs in your belt for that veteran line dancer look.

      Rock on the right foot forward and rock back on the left foot (two counts). Rock right forward again, then hitch left knee and scoot forward on the right foot (two counts).

      Walk forward right, left, right and then stomp left foot beside the right foot (four counts).
