How to Get the Top Back on a Wrangler

Jeep Wranglers are designed for people who enjoy the outdoors. Not only are they equipped to be driven off-road, but they also come with a soft top that you can put down so that you can enjoy driving in the open air. Although it may seem daunting at first, putting the soft top back up is not nearly as complicated as it looks. After a few practice tries, getting the top back onto your Jeep will seem like second nature.

Instructions

    • 1

Start at the back of the Jeep with the tailgate open. Check that the plastic sleeves are slid up and over the folded sun-rider. Push the top up from the rear of the vehicle so it goes up and over the sports bar. Pull the top forward until it reaches the windshield and you hear a click.

    • 2

Push the sun visors out of the way. Hook the header latches into the front window latches but don't lock them. Open the doors of the Jeep and tuck the drip rail retainers under the spaces around the door frames.

    • 3

Secure the the rear sail panels near the taillights. Reinstall the rear-quarter window. Secure them into place with the Velcro. Tuck the retainers into the door rail and zip them into place, folding the Velcro covering into place.

    • 4

Install the rear window. Release the rear sail panels partially so you can see the zipper. Zip the rear window into place.

    • 5

Grasp the tailgate bar and put it into in the tailgate brackets. Tuck the sail panel into the retainers on the side of the body. Close the header latches completely and return your sun visors into the correct position.
