How to Stop Static From a Trampoline

Static charges, also referred to as static electricity, are a result of friction. As objects move against each other, the electrons from one object can be gradually transferred to the other, creating a disparity between positively charged protons and negatively charged electrons. This imbalance creates a static "shock" when the buildup of electrons is discharged by coming into contact with another object. The solution to stopping static on a trampoline lies in preventing the transfer of electrons.

      Select a fabric protectant such as the type used for automobile upholstery. These types of protectants typically have a silicone based formula that will help to prevent friction between the bed of the trampoline and your feet.

      Spray the towel thoroughly with a fabric protection. Wipe the entire surface of the trampoline with the towel. Cover all areas of the trampoline that people will come into onto contact with, including the bed, padding, springs, side rails and safety netting.

      Reapply the protectant as needed, as you begin to notice static charges building up. You will need to recoat the trampoline with protectant more often in dry climates or during the winter as the lack of humidity will increase the incident of electron transfer and discharge.
