How to Fix the Temperature Readout on an Electronic Compass

An electronic compass uses digital readouts and is often part of a larger device, such as an altimeter, barometer and watch. A temperature readout is included as part of the barometric functions of the device. When resetting temperature readout, or recalibrating the device, it is essential that you have the current standing air temperature where the unit is, as you need to reset the temperature to the current reading.

Instructions

    • 1

Scroll to the device's barometer or temperature readout screen. Press and hold the reset or set button. (As devices vary, consult your owner's manual. If not available, look on the button sides for names and functions.)

    • 2

Press and hold the button until you see a series of zeroes or a blank temperature readout. Scroll to the settings function and select either Fahrenheit or Celsius, based on your preference.

    • 3

Use the scroll buttons to increase or decrease numeric readouts; in this case, enter by scrolling to the appropriate temperature number for the area.

    • 4

Press the "Set" button to ensure that the device is now reading and recognizes the current temperature.
