Saiga Trigger Guard Installation

Sometimes when a trigger guard, the arching piece that protects the trigger well, is bent or lose, it needs to be replaced. Like many gun makers, Saiga offers a replacement kit that corresponds with your weapon. You can purchase these kits at most gun retail outlets and online. Though replacing the trigger guard requires some skill, the process is fairly easy and painless if you follow the right steps.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the dust cover and the butt stock, ensuring that you remove all three screws. Use a drill press or hand drill to drill out the trigger and hammer axles. Remove the trigger and hammer assemblies. Flatten the head of the three rivets holding the trigger plate in place. Remove the top and bottom rivets first and use a centerpunch to make the divots.

Slide the front of the new trigger guard under the magazine housing and move the rear of the trigger guard. Line the rear of the trigger guard with the corresponding hole on the receiver. Attach the rear of the trigger guard using the provided screws and nuts in the kit.

Align the trigger guard with the receiver and barrel before tightening the trigger guard screws completely. Spray the trigger guard with DuraCoat to prevent rusting.
