How to Remove Ski Racks From Murano
The Nissan Murano is marketed as a "cross-over" sport utility vehicle. This midsize SUV has a factory-installed roof rack in the form of two side rails. Removing a ski rack from the auto most likely means removing an aftermarket snow sports rack. Major rack makers include Thule and Yakima, and each has its own system of attaching the racks to a factory-installed rail-roof rack. While each style has its own attachments, the method of removing them follows the same basic formula.
Things You'll Need

Instructions

1
Remove any skis from the racks. Keep the rack locks open.
-
2
Unscrew the retaining wing-nuts or bolts for the ski-racks, found at the base where it attaches to the rack cross bars. Set the nuts in a plastic baggy for safe storage. If the ski rack has locks keeping it on the cross-bars, use the rack lock keys to undo the locks.
-
3
Lift the ski rack up and off the roof-rack when the screws or lock attachments are removed.
-
4
Mark the plastic baggy "ski rack parts" and tape it to the ski rack for storage and use during the next ski season.
