How Fast Does a Honda CR125 4-Stroke Dirtbike Go?
-
Considerations
-
The manufacturer's test for speed may be performed under ideal conditions. The claimed top speed by the manufacturer may not be the same as the top speed recorded in an independent road test.
Different Test Results
-
"Motorcross" magazine reported that the Honda CR125F four-stroke dirt bike it tested ran out of breath at 95 kilometers per hour (KPH). Honda's official publicity booklet for 2008, which was printed in the United Kingdom but includes American specifications, claims the dirt bike had a top speed of 100 KPH.
Contributary Factors
-
The top speed ultimately depends on aspects such as the dirt bike rider's weight and/or whether the wind is a tailwind or headwind. Other variables should be taken into account because a dirt bike is on the higher end range of typical drag coefficients for motorcycles. Factors including fenders, shrouds, helmets without full face shields and loose jackets all create little pockets that can increase the drag coefficient.
