How to Make a Serving Bow String Knot
The bowstring knot is commonly used by archers for their bowstrings. The bowstring connects the two ends of the bow and is used to shoot the arrow. The bowstring knot is also used in other sports, such as climbing, boating and lassoing. It makes a "fixed in line" loop, meaning that it has no loose ends.
Things You'll Need
- String or rope
Instructions
-
-
1
Make a simple loop by bringing one end of the rope over the other to form a circle
-
2
Pull the section of rope leading to the end partially back through the loop from Part 1. The rope goes in and then turns around and comes out of the "criss-cross" or "pretzel" you would form when tying your shoe. Make this loop as big as you eventually want your knot to be.
-
3
Weave the end of the rope through the opening farthest from it at the top of the "pretzel."
-
4
Take hold of the loop formed in Step 2--this should be your biggest loop--and, while holding the end of the rope with your other hand, pull tight.
