Polaris 180 Booster Pump Specifications

The Polaris Vac-Sweep 180 is a small "robot" that rides around underwater in an in-ground pool to filter out leaves and other debris. The Polaris 180, an automatic pool cleaner, has its own pump and filter system, apart from the pool's regular pump. The pump was for sale on Internet sites, including Amazon.com, for $237 new, as of November 2010.
  1. General Specifications

    • The Polaris PB4-60, 3/4 HP booster pump is 115/230 volts, 12.8/6.4 amps. It is outfitted with automatic overload protection, service factor 1.50. The 3/4-horsepower pump guarantees "ample pressure at all times," according to Polaris. It comes with a one-year manufacturer's warranty. The pump weighs 33 lbs, with a 30-lb. shipping weight.

    Motor

    • The Polaris Booster Pump is powered by a Magnetek motor, serving the Polaris 380, 280 and 180 pool cleaners. The motor for the Polaris cleaner comes wired for 240 volts, while the booster pump motor may be wired for 120 or 240 volts, which may require some rewiring, according to the company. Instructions are listed on the name plate on the back of the motor, or on the sizing late on the motor's side.

    Function

    • The Polaris booster pump supplies high-pressure water to the Polaris pool cleaner, and the company recommends the pump should be installed by a licensed electrician. The booster pump is assembled upstream of all air-inducing equipment, such as the pool filter and heater, so that water flows directly to the Polaris 180. The pump must be placed at least three feet from the pool's heater.

    Parts

    • The pump's Softube quick connect is designed to work only with the Polaris white reinforced hose, part #19, according to the company. Polaris also sells a pump installation kit, titled as part #P17, with four Softube quick connects and six feet of flexible, reinforced hose.

Polaris sells a universal wall fitting restrictor kit as well, classified as part #10-108-00, which is included with all new Polaris cleaners that operate with a booster pump, according to the company.
