Can I Wear Contact Lenses With a Swim Mask?

Using a diving mask allows the diver to clearly view various sights underwater. However, for a person with poor vision, glasses won't fit under the mask, meaning they have to wear contact lenses while underwater. Making sure your mask fits properly and creates a good seal will allow you to wear your contacts with your mask and see the underwater sights.
  1. Contacts in Masks

    • A diver can wear contact lenses while using swim masks underwater. Just make sure to put the contacts in before diving, and create a firm seal with the mask before going underwater. If water does get into the mask, close your eyes immediately, as the water could flush the contacts from your eyes.

    Deep Sea Diving

    • For any kind of deep sea diving, the mask will be pressurized so the diver can wear contacts underwater. The same rules apply when it comes to water coming into the mask. If it starts to leak in, close your eyes or risk losing the lenses.

    Mask lenses

    • Another option is to purchase prescription lenses that fit into the actual mask. With those in place, the diver looks through the mask itself, just like looking through your glasses. Just make sure the prescription is correct before heading underwater, or you'll miss out on the sights.
