How to Repair Rubber Dive Fins
Equipment failure is the quickest and most disappointing way to end a dive trip. Whether you are free diving, snorkeling or suited up for scuba; you need your equipment to be ready for the water. A damaged fin can send you back to the shore or boat quickly. Repairing a broken strap is as simple as threading on a replacement from your dive kit. A split in the blade or toe of the fin will usually require a replacement of the pair of fins. But, with a quick fix you can temporarily repair that split and finish your dive.
Things You'll Need
- Damaged dive fin
- Clean cloth
- Rubbing alcohol
- Wetsuit repair cement
- Waterproof tape

Wipe your damaged fin with a clean, dry cloth to remove any water or debris. Pour a little rubbing alcohol onto a rag to scrub off any stubborn, dried on debris on the fin. Rinse the fin in the water to wash away the alcohol. Dry the fin with a clean cloth.

Fill the split with wetsuit glue. Press the two sides of the split together. Apply glue to the outside of the fin on both sides of the split. Place a piece of tape across the seam and glue.

Glue and tape the other side of the fin. Allow the glue to dry for 1 hour. Wipe the fin clean with a dry cloth. Slide on your gear and try it out.
