How to Fit Snorkel Fins

Snorkeling is a great activity for vacations, exercise or leisure. Although you can rent gear, it is smart to invest in some of your own, like fins. Either way, the snorkel fins must fit comfortably and firmly.

      Decide what type of snorkel fins you want. Prices range from $15 to over $200. Take into consideration how much use they will get, as this may be a reason to invest in a more high-tech design.

      Look for more common snorkel fins, such as the full foot style paddle. If you want fins with heel straps, keep in mind that these are most often used for free diving.

      Look for a snorkel fin that is close to your shoe sizes, as this is how fins are measured. Experiment with your shoe size in different brands to see what fits most comfortable for you. Well-known, quality brands include Mares and Cressi.

      Fit the snorkel fins to your foot so that they are snug against your heel and ankle, but are not uncomfortably tight. You want the heels to be snug enough that they don't slide off your foot, but it is okay if there is a little extra room inside the foot for your feet to move around.
